The Brooklyn Museum announced the selection of more than two hundred artists for The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition, which will open on the occasion of the Museum’s 200th anniversary. This extensive group show highlights the remarkable creativity and diversity of Brooklyn’s artistic communities. Reflecting on a rich history of fostering creativity and championing artists of all backgrounds, the Museum’s bicentennial is an opportunity to honor the borough’s artistic heritage while looking towards the future.

The Armory Show is taking place from September 6^th to 8^th. The fair’s 30^th edition features over 235 galleries from 35 countries, showcasing artist projects in the Platform section, as well as highlights from sections Galleries, Focus, Solo and Presents, alongside presentation details for the Gramercy International Prize. Now part of the Frieze network, the Armory Show presents a revitalized program that offers a comprehensive view of the contemporary art world.

The Appearance: Art of the Asian Diaspora in Latin America & the Caribbean is the first exhibition in New York City at Americas Society to center the artistic production of the Asian diaspora in the region from the 1940s to the present. Focusing on postwar and contemporary art, the exhibition showcases the work of thirty artists from fifteen countries working in a range of artistic mediums including painting, sculpture, performance, photography, and video, to shed light into strategies and themes that resonate across a wide array of Asian diasporic practice throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

apexart is soliciting idea-based group exhibition proposals for its NYC open call October 1–31, 2024. Five winning proposals will receive up to a 10,000 USD exhibition budget and become apexart exhibitions at the NYC space as part of the 2025–26 exhibition season. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit a proposal online.

Liliana Porter: The Task is the artist’s exhibition at Dia Bridgehampton. The exhibition comprises a new commission alongside a selection of works from the 1970s and video documentation of a recent play by Porter and collaborator Ana Tiscornia.

Art at Americas Society is presenting Interior with Landscapes, the first solo exhibition and mid-career survey of the Argentine artist Alejandra Seeber in New York. Many of Seeber's paintings explore the tension between representation and abstraction.

The Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) presents the exhibition Threads to the South, curated by Anna Burckhardt Pérez. The group exhibition features works by over twenty artists from ten countries, including videos, photographs, paintings, works on paper, and textiles developed between 1967 and 2023.

El Museo del Barrio presented the exhibition Amalia Mesa-Bains: Archaeology of Memory, the first retrospective exhibition by the pioneering artist, curator, and theorist. Born in 1943 to a Mexican immigrant family, Mesa-Bains has been a leading figure in Chicanx art for nearly half a century.

With the opening of Frieze NY last Wednesday, the NY Contemporary sales season has kicked off (if it ever truly stops!). From now until mid-May, it's a whirlwind of fairs and gallery openings, culminating in the grand auctions. May is a crucial time for the US art market calendar and the results will have global repercussion for the remainder of the year.

The Fund for Park Avenue and its Sculpture Committee have invited two artists, Betsabeé Romero and Jorge Otero-Pailos to exhibit their sculptures on Park Avenue from March through October 2024. Their eight works are presented in conjunction with New York City (NYC) Parks’ Art in the Parks program.

NEW INC, New Museum's Cultural Incubator, Announces DEMO2024 Art and Technology Festival. Hosted by WSA and Water Street Projects the festival will take place from June 5 to 7, 2024. Keynote Speakers Include Andrew Thomas Huang, Gabriel Massan, Precious Okoyomon, New York City Council Member Chi Ossé, and Mahfuz and Chloe Sultan.

Exhibited for the first time since entering the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, Regina José Galindo’s Tierra (2013) explores connections between the exploitation of labor, resources, and human life in Guatemala.

Argentine artist Marta Minujín will restage her iconic 1985 photo-performance Payment of the Argentine Foreign Debt to Andy Warhol with Corn, the Latin American Corn, at Americas Society, in collaboration with Jewish Museum. The event is free and open to the public and will take place on March 26, 2024, 6pm at Americas Society. Registration required.

White Shoes is Nona Faustine exhibition at Brooklyn Museum, where the artist, using her own body, interrogates the question “What does a Black person look like today in those places where Africans were once sold, a century and a half ago?” using her body.

The New Museum announced that 2023–24 Artist-in-Residence Camilo Godoy will convene participatory workshops, an open rehearsal and dialogue, and NewMu Teens programs throughout February 2024, culminating in the premiere of a new work, "Camilo Godoy: renacemos a cada instante," on February 24, 2024. 

Spiral for Shared Dreams is Colombian artist Carolina Caycedo’s exhibition at MoMA, presenting 11 handmade atarrayas, or fishing nets, denouncing the impact of hydroelectrical dams and other infrastructure on water bodies.

El Museo del Barrio announced the second rotation of its permanent collection exhibition Something Beautiful: Reframing La Colección.

El Dorado: Myths of Gold is an extensively researched, impeccably installed exhibition featuring one-hundred objects and artworks from the Pre-Columbian period to the 21^st century by sixty artists.

The New Museum announced Camilo Godoy as its 2023–24 Artist-in-Residence. The annual Artist Residency supports an artist or collective working at the intersections of performance, pedagogy, and participatory art to develop and present new work.

The Jewish Museum will present the first exhibition in the United States of Marta Minujín, a defining force of Latin American art whose trajectory intersected with the major artistic developments of the postwar period while reflecting a singular spirit and vision infused by her sharp intellect, irreverent humor, and performative presence.

Argentina Performance Art (APA), with the support of LATEA Theater and Grace Exhibition Space, will curate a three-night series to address critical and essential South American issues through the power of performance art.

The intensive program is designed to guide artists through every step of the process of making a book. The objective is to have a physical maquette or artist book ready to present to publishers or to self-publish upon completion of the course, as well as to establish a practice and community to support them going forward.
